Here at indi chocolate, we strive to reduce our carbon footprint and make a positive impact on the environment on a daily basis. We choose to partake in direct trade when sourcing our cacao beans. Working directly with cacao farmers from around the world allows us to source quality cacao and provide a higher income to farmers.
At the country of origin, farmers grow cacao interspersed with hardwood trees, medicinal plants, and crops that provide food for the families. Some of the plants on the farms include plantains, corn, pineapple, guava, yucca, and much more. You can learn more about all of the plants that grow on a cacao farm in our tropical plant guide.
Biodiversity is a key part of growing high quality cacao. The biodiversity of farms provides a range of key nutrients to the soil for growth, and ultimately contributes to the flavor of the cacao itself. This in turn provides a sustainable method of growing cacao for generations to come.
With this goal of longevity in mind, we have teamed up with Noble Oak for their great bourbons and whiskeys in addition to their commitment to reforestation. Noble Oak partners with One Tree Planted, and with each bottle purchased, plant a tree to restore our forests. From this program, they have been able to plant well over 450 trees along the trails of Mount Si all the way to the iconic Cascade Mountains.
In honor of Earth Day, we've paired our 72% dark chocolate with their bourbon to bring you a Cacao-Infused Noble Oak Bourbon fit for any planet Earth dweller! Sip on this delicious drink and celebrate Earth Day by supporting small, local businesses with the environment in mind. Choose producers who are conscious about the consumer and the greater impact for our posterity.
